Company

Built for the practice, not the pipeline.

Retainer is the CRM for consultants who run retainers. It watches what's about to slip and puts it on one screen.

Why it exists

Consultants don't lose clients in dramatic moments. They lose them to neglect.

Generic CRMs were built for sales teams chasing volume. They store contacts, wait for you to remember to check them, and treat a $6k/month retainer the same as a $6k project. Context dies between the pipeline tool, the delivery tool, and the invoicing app.

Retainer is the missing layer. Connect Google Calendar, confirm who matters, and the Today queue already knows who you haven't spoken to since spring. Renewals, quiet relationships, stalled proposals, unbilled hours, and overdue invoices surface themselves — ranked by what the relationship is worth, not just how long it has been.

What we believe

Attention, not a bigger database

A CRM that only stores what you type is a filing cabinet. The useful part is noticing a retainer ending in six weeks, or a client who has gone quiet, before either becomes a lost renewal.

The practice, not the pipeline

Opportunities are pre-signature. Engagements are the work after. Monthly retainers and one-off fees stay as two numbers. We built the vocabulary consultants already use, not the one sales teams inherited.

One person's book, watched properly

Retainer is for independent consultants and small firms. It is single-user today. If you need shared pipelines and per-seat permissions, this is the wrong tool — and we say so on the homepage.

How we work

Free during beta. Honest about what is shipped.

Everything in the product is free while Retainer is in beta. You will know what paid plans cost before beta ends, not after — and beta users get notice and a better price than anyone who shows up later.

We do not invent features on the marketing site. Calendar sync, the Today queue, the Monday digest, deals, engagements, and time and invoicing are live. There is no one-click export yet; it lands before anyone is asked to pay, and until then we will get your data out if you ask.
